Why I Think a Brand Should Have a Point of View on Its Industry

Some brands are very good at explaining what they sell but strangely quiet about what they believe. They describe the product, list the features and talk about the benefits, but they never say what they think is changing in their industry.

I think that's a missed opportunity.

As the best digital marketer in Calicut, I believe a strong brand should have something interesting to say about the world it operates in. Not a controversial opinion for attention, but a genuine point of view based on what the business sees every day.

Being the best digital marketer in Calicut means I don't want every brand message to sound like a sales pitch. Sometimes, the most valuable content isn't asking people to buy anything. It's showing them how the company thinks.

Imagine a company that sells project management software.

It could keep posting:

“Manage your projects better.”

Or it could say:

“Most project delays aren't caused by people working slowly. They're caused by unclear ownership.”

Now I have something to think about.

Maybe I agree.

Maybe I don't.

Either way, the brand has started a conversation.

That's what a point of view can do.

It gives customers something to react to.

A financial company could talk about why people misunderstand budgeting.

A restaurant could discuss why menus have become too complicated.

A clothing brand could explain why it prefers fewer collections each year.

A marketing agency could challenge the obsession with chasing every trend.

None of these statements has to be revolutionary.

They simply need to be genuine.

And importantly, the opinion should connect back to how the business operates.

If a brand says it believes in simplicity but makes every customer go through a complicated buying process, the message won't last long.

Your point of view should be visible in your actions.

That's when it becomes positioning rather than content.

I also think having an opinion makes content creation easier.

Instead of constantly asking:

“What should we post today?”

You can ask:

“What do we think about what's happening in our industry?”

Suddenly, there are conversations everywhere.

New trends.

Old habits.

Changing customer expectations.

Common mistakes.

New technologies.

Unexpected behaviours.

You don't need to comment on everything.

You just need to know what you actually have something useful to say about.

Because a brand shouldn't only be remembered for what it sells.

It can also be remembered for how it sees the world.

And sometimes, that's what makes people want to hear from it again.
