VJ Instruments Die Roller Extruder: Working Principle and Specifications

The Die Roller Extruder from VJ Instruments is built for material extrusion processes that require precision and consistency. The machine uses two horizontally placed rollers, a perforated roller that creates perforations in the material, and a knurling roller that adds texture or specific patterns to the extruded output.

Material is manually charged into the hopper, which includes a drum and blade provision attached to a motor. This motor rotates and drives the material into the feeding hopper positioned between the two rollers. As the rollers press the material, it extrudes through the perforations in the perforated roller, producing material with the desired texture or pattern. A blade cutter arrangement then cuts the extruded material into granules of the required length.

The VJDRE-01 is a single screw extruder with a production capacity of 2 to 6 kg per hour depending on the formulation, with a minimum batch size of around 100 grams and a maximum of 2 kg. On continuous batch operation, output ranges from 0.5 to 2 kg per hour. The standard perforated mesh hole diameter is 1mm, with optional sizes from 2.00 to 8.00mm available at extra cost. Screw speed runs from 10 to 150 rpm, and hopper discharge happens automatically by gravity.

Contact parts are SS 316 and non-contact parts are SS 304, with the VFD supplied by Delta and the drive motor from Crompton or equivalent. The unit runs on 440V, three phase, 50Hz power with 1 kWh consumption, and measures 540 x 565 x 415mm, weighing approximately 85 kg (150 kg with packing). Safety features include an emergency stop switch and an auto stop function when the process completes.

The product is GMP, ISO, and CE certified, and VJ Instruments also holds MSME certification.
