SKOV’s European Oak herringbone range is available in a variety of natural, white, and grey finishes, allowing it to complement a wide range of interior palettes. European Oak engineered boards are available in 14mm and 20mm thicknesses. Most modern herringbone floors are produced in engineered oak construction. This allows the natural beauty of oak to be combined with a structure designed for improved dimensional stability. Herringbone flooring is one of the most iconic and sought-after styles of parquetry. While often mistaken for Chevron, Herringbone uses distinct plank cuts and a unique installation method to create a timeless, yet effortlessly stylish aesthetic. While the floating floor installation method is generally DIY-friendly, herringbone patterns require careful planning and precision. It's recommended to seek professional installation for optimal results. Engineered herringbone flooring combines the authentic appearance of real timber with the strength and stability of multi-layer engineered construction. WOODCUT uses a sawn cut extraction method when extracting the veneer from the logs, which does not degrade the quality of the veneer, as opposed to a sliced cut veneer.
With a customer-first approach, our experienced team provides expert advice, precision installation, and long-lasting results tailored to your space and lifestyle. There are several options available when choosing herringbone flooring, each offering different benefits depending on your priorities. Herringbone hybrid flooring is designed for durability and water resistance. It is suitable for high-traffic areas and provides a practical solution for modern homes. Engineered timber flooring provides a natural timber surface with improved stability.

Chevron flooring uses boards that are cut at an angle so that the ends meet to form a continuous point. Herringbone and chevron are both parquetry flooring patterns, but they are constructed differently.
Engineered herringbone flooring can be installed over concrete subfloors when the slab is level, dry, and properly prepared with a moisture barrier. WOODCUT floors can be installed over an underfloor heating system, provided the correct installation method and product is used. WOODCUT offers support on preparing your slab for an underfloor heating installation by European standards. This premium range features a three layer full oak construction, crafted entirely from oak. Each board is formed with three layers arranged crosswise for improved stability while maintaining the natural character of solid timber. We provide flooring supply and installation for Waterloo apartments, renovations and a wide range of residentialprojects across the suburb.
Herringbone floors use complete rectangular blocks or planks, whereas Chevron parquetry is formed by cutting the blocks at an angle on the short end. Although Herringbone and Chevron are two styles of parquetry, they are in fact very different flooring designs. However, the cost is well worth considering how much longer they will last and the better they look.

This finish enhances the inherent grain and character of oak, while delivering a resilient, tactile surface built to last generations. That’s because of the high-quality wood we source from Europe and the way in which we extract the veneer from the logs. We use a sawn cut extraction method which means the quality of the veneer is not negatively affected. This is different from the typical sliced cut veneer method, in which the timber is softened by boiling, and later peeled off using a slicer.
