Stamp Paper for Rent Agreement: ₹100 or ₹500?

Stamp duty on a rent agreement is set by each state, not by the Centre. For an 11-month residential agreement, many states treat ₹100 (sometimes ₹50 or ₹500) as the usual value. For longer terms, duty is normally a percentage of the average annual rent, sometimes with the deposit added.
