Global molecular diagnostics and life sciences leader QIAGEN N.V. has officially appointed Jonathan M. Pratt as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2026. The selection of an executive with extensive industry expertise follows a thorough international executive search conducted by the company’s Supervisory Board. As QIAGEN seeks to accelerate commercial execution and refine its operational focus, securing strong leadership in executive management remains vital for steering growth across sample preparation, assay technologies, and clinical testing platforms.
Jonathan M. Pratt succeeds Thierry Bernard, who served as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for six years. Bernard will step down from his executive duties on September 1 but will remain with the organization through the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition of leadership and strategic initiatives.
Extensive Executive Background in Life Sciences and Healthcare
Pratt brings more than 25 years of international leadership experience across healthcare, laboratory technologies, life sciences, and industrial filtration. Most recently, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Filtration Group, where he oversaw the company’s expansion and strategic development leading up to its acquisition by Parker-Hannifin Corporation.
Before his tenure at Filtration Group, Pratt held significant senior executive roles across leading life sciences companies. He served as Senior Vice President of the Waters Division at Waters Corporation, leading commercial strategy, product innovation, and global operations. Additionally, he previously served as President of Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, a major operating business within Danaher Corporation, and held executive roles at Pall Corporation. His extensive familiarity with bioprocessing, analytical instrumentation, and clinical diagnostics positions him well to lead QIAGEN's worldwide operations.
Strategic Priorities and Performance Outlook
Leadership at QIAGEN emphasized that Pratt’s initial focus will center on engaging closely with global internal teams and customer networks to sharpen strategic choices, enhance execution, and expand the company's market footprint. The appointment aligns with QIAGEN's continued commitment to delivering disciplined, profitable growth by advancing core growth pillars, improving operating efficiency, and directing capital toward high-return scientific opportunities.
Concurrently, QIAGEN reaffirmed its operational financial guidance for both the third quarter and full-year 2026. Guided by its Supervisory Board and independent financial advisors, the organization continues to advance its standalone business objectives and long-term strategic review aimed at generating sustainable value for shareholders, healthcare partners, and global laboratory customers.
