PTA Price Trend Q2 2026 | Global Price Trends, Forecast, Chart, Prices and Index

The PTA Price Trend in Q2 2026 showed significant movement across global markets due to changing production costs, supply availability, international trade conditions, and demand from the polyester industry.

During the quarter, higher manufacturing expenses and uncertainty in shipping routes supported prices in several regions. Demand from polyester fibre, filament yarn, PET resin, and packaging manufacturers also influenced purchasing activity.

However, improving supply conditions and cautious buying towards June created price corrections in many markets. These developments shaped global PTA Prices, the PTA Price Chart, and the overall PTA Price Index.

Global PTA Market Overview in Q2 2026

The global PTA market remained influenced by changing supply-demand conditions throughout Q2 2026. PTA is an important raw material used in polyester production, making its consumption closely connected to textile manufacturing, packaging, and PET resin industries.

During the early part of the quarter, higher production expenses and uncertainty in international logistics encouraged suppliers to maintain firm offers.

Buyers also focused on securing sufficient material to avoid interruptions in manufacturing operations. Import-dependent markets faced additional pressure from transportation costs and changing export offers.

By June, the market started showing mixed movements. Better material availability and more competitive supplier offers encouraged buyers to reduce additional purchases. Some markets recorded price corrections, while others continued to experience increases because of local demand and import replacement costs.

Major Factors Affecting PTA Prices

Production Costs and Supply Availability

Production expenses remained an important factor influencing PTA Prices Changes in operating rates, maintenance schedules, energy expenses, and raw material availability affected manufacturers' selling strategies. When production becomes limited, suppliers may increase offers to manage available volumes. In contrast, higher operating rates and comfortable inventories can create competition and put pressure on prices.

Polyester Industry Demand

Demand from polyester fibre and filament yarn producers remained an important source of PTA consumption. Textile manufacturers require consistent supplies to maintain production schedules, while PET resin producers depend on PTA for packaging applications. Stronger downstream orders can support regular purchasing, whereas weaker demand and high inventories may encourage buyers to delay procurement.

International Trade and Logistics

Shipping expenses, delivery schedules, and import availability influenced PTA prices across different regions. Importers considered freight and replacement costs before placing new orders. Changes in international supply conditions also affected the competitiveness of exporting markets, particularly in Asia.

Regional PTA Price Trend Analysis

China and India

China recorded an approximately 19.40% quarterly increase in PTA export prices FOB Shanghai, supported by production costs and supply conditions. However, prices declined by around 3.85% in June as improved availability and cautious purchasing reduced market pressure.

India experienced an approximately 20.57% increase in domestic PTA prices Ex-Mumbai during Q2. Regular requirements from polyester and PET manufacturers supported demand, while higher import replacement costs influenced domestic offers. In June, prices corrected by approximately 8.89% as competitive imports and lower purchasing activity affected market sentiment.

European Markets

Belgium and the Netherlands recorded strong quarterly increases of approximately 35.86% and 34.80%, respectively. Higher production expenses, supply availability, and steady requirements from downstream manufacturers supported prices. However, both markets experienced corrections in June as import competition improved and buyers became more selective.

European PTA producers will continue to monitor operating costs and imported material availability. Competitive Asian cargoes may influence local supplier offers, particularly when domestic demand remains moderate.

UAE and Middle Eastern Markets

The UAE recorded an approximately 29.81% increase in PTA import prices CIF Jebel Ali from China during Q2. Higher export offers and transportation expenses supported landed costs. Prices increased further by approximately 2.25% in June, showing continued support from import replacement costs.

Oman recorded an approximately 17.19% quarterly increase in PTA import prices CIF Salalah. However, June prices declined by around 1.59% as improved cargo availability and lower Chinese offers reduced import pressure.

South Korea, Bangladesh, Turkey and Vietnam

South Korea experienced an approximately 23.23% increase in export prices FOB Busan during Q2. Stronger international demand supported the market, although June prices declined by approximately 6.85% due to export competition and changing buying requirements.

Bangladesh recorded an approximately 19.27% quarterly increase in PTA import prices CIF Chittagong. Textile and garment manufacturing supported import demand, while June prices decreased by around 1.21%.

Turkey and Vietnam also recorded quarterly increases of approximately 17.24% and 18.52%, respectively. Turkey continued seeing a further increase in June, supported by downstream procurement and import replacement costs. Vietnam, however, recorded a decline of approximately 3.68% as improved availability and cautious restocking affected buying activity.

PTA Price Chart and Price Index

The PTA Price Chart for Q2 2026 highlights differences between exporting and importing regions. European markets experienced strong quarterly increases, while Asian markets were influenced by production conditions, export competition, and downstream demand.

The PTA Price Index helps buyers understand these regional movements and compare domestic, export, and import prices. Freight expenses, local inventories, currency fluctuations, and supplier availability can create differences between international quotations and actual purchasing costs.

PTA Price Forecast and Market Outlook

The future PTA Price Forecast will largely depend on production availability, downstream polyester demand, and international trade conditions. Stable production and improved supply may create opportunities for buyers to negotiate more competitive prices. However, higher operating expenses or unexpected production interruptions could provide renewed support to supplier offers.

Demand from polyester fibre, filament yarn, PET resin, and packaging manufacturers will remain important. Stronger textile orders and packaging consumption may encourage regular PTA procurement. On the other hand, weaker downstream margins and excess inventories could limit fresh buying activity.

Chinese export offers will remain an important influence on importing markets. Competitive cargoes may increase pressure on domestic suppliers, while freight costs and currency movements could affect the final landed prices.

Monitoring production rates, inventory levels, import availability, and downstream consumption will be essential for understanding upcoming PTA market movements.
