Prolife Does Not Execute Payment Order of Rp566.24 Trillion
This case is related to the alleged neglect or obstruction of the implementation of OJK's authority throughout 2020 - 2023. The company also failed to comply with the written order from OJK in 2023 to pay compensation to consumers amounting to Rp566.24 billion.
The business license of PT Asuransi Jiwa Prolife Indonesia has been revoked since 2 November 2023.
OJK's Executive Head of Insurance, Guarantee, and Pension Fund Supervision, Ogi Prastomiyono, said the revocation was carried out because the company was unable to fulfill its obligations to policyholders and no longer met the financial health requirements.
After the business license was revoked, OJK formed a liquidation team. The company's guarantee funds amounting to IDR 35 billion have been disbursed and distributed to policyholders. However, there are still remaining obligations that continue to be resolved.

Director of Investigation at OJK, Tongam L. Tobing, detailed a number of assets seized by investigators. Henry Surya Suspected of Using Rp300 Billion for Personal Purposes
OJK has issued a written order on October 13,2023, requiring controlling shareholder Henry Surya to fulfill his obligations to policyholders. Henry is now a suspect in the case.
Executive Director of the SJK Investigation Team at OJK, Daniel Bolly Hironimus T, revealed that the investigation took more than a year because the suspect was uncooperative and repeatedly provided false information.
Investigation results indicate that Henry is suspected of using insurance funds amounting to approximately IDR 500 billion. Of that amount, approximately IDR 300 billion is suspected to have been used for personal purposes.
"We're sure he still has Rp300 billion, " said Bolly.
According to the OJK, all of those assets were obtained through seizure, not voluntarily surrendered. The assets were discovered after investigators conducted a long search and dug up information from customers and the public.
The seized assets have met the provisions of the KUHAP as evidence that can be presented in court. Henry is threatened with a prison sentence of up to 12 years.
Friderica emphasized that OJK, together with law enforcement agencies, will not hesitate to take legal action against violations that harm consumers and society. Inter-institutional synergy is considered important to strengthen the process of tracing, blocking, and seizing assets.
