Oakwell Reimagines Mother's Day Spa Day

Years ago, a Mother’s Day that included Mom being soaked with beer might have been considered a disaster. Since the opening of Oakwell Beer Spa in 2021, it’s become a celebration.

At Oakwell Beer Spa, Mom isn’t being doused in actual beer. She’s soaking in a warm, aromatic bath infused with hops, barley and therapeutic herbs, part of a growing trend toward experiential wellness gifts that prioritize relaxation, connection and self-care.

“Mother’s Day has evolved,” said Jessica Zouaoui, co-founder and CEO of Oakwell Beer Spa and mother of a two-year-old with a little brother on the way. “More families are looking for meaningful ways to spend time together, and experiences like spa days create memories in a way that traditional gifts simply can’t.”

This Mother’s Day, Oakwell Beer Spa is inviting families to skip the traditional brunch or flowers and instead give Mom an experience designed to help her unwind, recharge and feel appreciated.

Oakwell’s signature experience begins in its taproom, where guests enjoy a rotating selection of craft beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages, before moving to a 90-minute session in a private spa suite featuring a hops-and-barley-infused soaking tub, infrared sauna, and rain shower.

The beer bath itself contains no yeast and is not fermented. Instead, it incorporates the natural ingredients of beer — hops and barley — which are known for their skin-soothing and relaxation properties. Hops is a natural sedative whose aromatherapy creates a sense of calm, while barley is packed with vitamins and minerals that work wonders on the skin and hair. The experience wraps with a full-body massage in a high-tech, robotics-enabled massage chair before heading back to the taproom for final sips, snacks and socialization.

The result is a treatment that blends centuries-old bathing traditions with a modern, social spa environment.

“Many of our guests are first-time spa-goers,” said Damien Zouaoui, co-founder of Oakwell Beer Spa. “The beer element makes the experience feel approachable and fun, while the wellness benefits keep them coming back.”

Oakwell Beer Spa’s locations in Downtown Denver and Highlands Ranch have high demand leading up to Mother’s Day, with gift cards and advance bookings already popular options.

“Whether it’s a mother-daughter outing, a couples experience or a group celebration, Oakwell Beer Spa gives people a different way to say thank you,” Jessica Zouaoui added. “It’s not just a gift. It’s time together that creates memories.”

For those who can’t make it that weekend or who are outside of Colorado, Oakwell Beer Spa offers a curated line of beer-infused bath and body products (visit oakwellcosmetics.com).
