Insurance.BG: a digital step forward for the Bulgarian insurance market

Bulgarian start-up Digital Policy Hub AD has launched the MVP version of a new insurance platform designed to make it easier to choose, buy and manage insurance products. Called Insurance.BG, the platform is available both via web browser and as a mobile app, allowing users to manage their policies wherever they are, without having to visit an insurance office. It is aimed at people looking for a faster, clearer and more convenient way to keep all their insurance in one place.

Main insurance products in one digital space

One of the project’s key aims is to bring together the main types of insurance used by households and businesses in a single digital environment, says CEO Momchil Fotev. Instead of visiting different offices, websites or intermediaries, users have one central point for information, quotes and policy purchase. The process is structured to be easy to understand and use, even for people without in-depth knowledge of insurance.

The platform also supports secure online payment via VPOS. This means customers can complete an insurance purchase remotely, without having to take any additional steps outside the system. It also makes it easier to manage active policies, deadlines and related documents. Users get a clearer overview of their insurance portfolio and can more easily track what is active, when it expires and what needs to be done next.

The functionality goes beyond individual policies. The platform also allows users to organise insured assets and the people connected to them, such as cars, properties, family members and friends. This is particularly useful for households with more than one car or property, as well as for users who help relatives manage insurance documents and deadlines. Through a single profile, they can keep a clearer, more organised view of all important insurable items and monitor policies and renewal dates.

Insurance.BG is built around the idea that users should have clear information and easy control over all their insurance commitments. Bringing different services together in one interface reduces administrative effort and makes everyday decisions simpler. It also supports better awareness, more timely policy renewals and more efficient management of personal and family assets, saving time, effort and unnecessary in-person visits.

Vignette purchase

From February 2026, the platform will also offer the option to buy an electronic motorway vignette for a car. The service will be available at the prices set by the state, with no change to the final cost for the user. Adding vignettes expands the platform’s practical role and turns it into a more complete tool for managing car-related obligations. As part of its digital strategy in the automotive services space, the company has also developed Avtovia, a brand focused specifically on the fast and secure purchase of electronic vignettes in Bulgaria. The site is mobile-first, translated into major European languages and meets all data security requirements.

Free checks for key deadlines

Insurance.BG also includes several free services that can be used independently. Users can check the validity of compulsory third-party liability insurance, whether a valid annual technical inspection is in place, and the status of the electronic vignette. These functions save time and reduce the risk of missed deadlines, fines or lapses in mandatory cover.

Insurtech with room to grow

With this platform, Digital Policy Hub AD is taking an important step towards modernising access to insurance services in Bulgaria. The combination of online purchase, mobile access, asset management and free checks shows the potential of insurtech solutions to make insurance more understandable, more convenient and better aligned with people’s everyday needs.
