At Midland School, we deliver an authentic progressive boarding school California experience for high school students seeking academic rigor, environmental stewardship, and real-world responsibility. Located on a 2,860-acre living classroom in Santa Barbara County, our college-preparatory curriculum integrates hands-on leadership with traditional academics in an inspiring natural setting.

Key Pillars of the Midland Experience:

• Experiential & Place-Based Learning: Students engage directly with our organic farm, native ecosystems, and outdoor trails to ground science, humanities, and arts in real-world application.

• Intentional Community & Shared Work: Daily campus jobs, sustainable farm-to-table dining, and cabin maintenance build self-reliance, accountability, and strong community bonds.

• College-Preparatory Academics: Small class sizes, personalized faculty mentorship, and comprehensive college counseling prepare students for acceptance into top-tier universities.

• Values-Driven Character Development: Self-reliance, mutual respect, environmental care, and cultural inclusion form the foundation of our residential community.

• Outdoor Leadership & Wilderness Skills: Outdoor exploration and environmental stewardship cultivate resilience, physical health, and lifelong appreciation for nature.
