LAB Price Trend Q2 2026 | Forecast, Chart, Prices and Index

Author : price watch | Published On : 18 Sep 2026

The LAB Price Trend changed sharply during the second quarter of 2026, with prices moving significantly higher across several important global markets. Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) is widely used in the production of detergents, surfactants, and cleaning products, so its price is closely connected with both raw material costs and demand from downstream industries.

During Q2 2026, higher Benzene and kerosene costs pushed production expenses upward, while steady demand from detergent and cleaning product manufacturers provided additional support to the market. At the same time, geopolitical uncertainty affected energy prices, freight costs, and international logistics. Together, these factors created a strong upward movement in LAB Prices during most of the quarter.

Understanding the LAB Price Trend in Q2 2026

The second quarter of 2026 was a period of strong price movement for Linear Alkyl Benzene. Compared with the previous quarter, global LAB prices increased by roughly 52% to 69%, depending on the market and pricing location.

One of the simplest ways to understand this movement is to look at the cost structure behind LAB production. Benzene and kerosene are important feedstocks, and when their prices rise, manufacturers generally face higher production costs. These higher costs can eventually be reflected in the selling price of LAB.

Demand also played an important role. Detergent, surfactant, and cleaning product manufacturers continued to require LAB for their production activities. When demand remains healthy while production costs are rising, suppliers generally have stronger support for maintaining higher prices.

The quarter was also affected by geopolitical uncertainty surrounding the conflict involving the USA, Israel, and Iran. This situation contributed to uncertainty in energy markets and international transportation. Higher energy and freight costs added another layer of pressure to the overall LAB market.

As a result, the LAB Price Index remained supported during most of Q2 2026, while the LAB Price Chart showed a strong upward movement across key producing and importing regions.

Why LAB Prices Increased During the Quarter

There was not one single reason behind the increase in LAB Prices. Instead, several market factors worked together.

First, feedstock costs increased sharply. Benzene prices were an important contributor to higher LAB production costs, while rising kerosene values also added pressure. Since manufacturers have to manage these input costs, changes in feedstock markets can have a direct effect on LAB pricing.

Second, demand from downstream industries remained healthy. LAB is an important raw material for detergent and surfactant production. Household and industrial cleaning products continue to require these materials, which means demand can remain relatively steady even when the wider chemical market becomes uncertain.

Third, logistics became more expensive and uncertain. International chemical trade depends heavily on shipping, energy, and transportation networks. When freight costs increase or shipping routes become less predictable, the landed cost of a product can rise even if the underlying material price does not change by the same amount.

These conditions helped explain why the LAB Price Trend remained firm through much of Q2.

Saudi Arabia LAB Price Trend

Saudi Arabia recorded one of the strongest movements among the markets covered in the Q2 2026 assessment.

The LAB export price from Al-Jubail increased by approximately 65.5% compared with Q1 2026. Higher Benzene and kerosene costs increased production expenses, while healthy export demand from detergent manufacturers supported supplier pricing.

The regional energy market was also influenced by geopolitical uncertainty during the quarter. This increased concerns around transportation and export logistics, adding further support to firm export quotations.

The LAB Price Chart for Saudi Arabia therefore showed a strong upward direction during Q2. The LAB Price Index also remained elevated because production costs were significantly higher.

However, the situation changed in June. Saudi Arabian LAB Prices declined by approximately 13.4% as feedstock costs softened, export demand weakened, and inventories improved.

This decline did not completely reverse the quarterly increase, but it showed that the market had started responding to changing fundamentals.

Qatar LAB Price Trend

Qatar also experienced a substantial increase in LAB prices during Q2 2026.

LAB export prices from Mesaieed increased by approximately 64.8% compared with the previous quarter. Elevated Benzene costs were an important factor, while healthy export demand helped suppliers maintain firm pricing.

Shipping uncertainty also affected the market during the quarter. Higher uncertainty around international transportation contributed to stronger FOB offers and increased concern about future logistics costs.

The LAB Price Index remained supported by elevated production expenses, and the LAB Price Chart reflected firm pricing throughout much of the quarter.

In June, however, Qatar LAB Prices declined by around 12.6%. Lower crude oil prices, weaker export demand, and delayed purchasing decisions contributed to the correction.

The June movement highlights how quickly LAB prices can respond when buyers become more cautious and feedstock markets begin to ease.

China LAB Price Trend

China recorded a Q2 2026 LAB price increase of approximately 51.8% compared with Q1.

Although this increase was lower than the percentage movements recorded in some other markets, it still represented a significant quarterly change.

Higher Benzene costs provided strong cost-side support, while demand from detergent and surfactant manufacturers remained healthy. Export pricing was therefore able to remain firm during much of the quarter.

Geopolitical uncertainty also affected the cost and availability of international logistics. As a result, exporters had to consider higher transportation risks when setting prices.

The LAB Price Chart for China showed strong pricing during Q2, while the LAB Price Index remained supported by higher feedstock costs.

By June, the market began to correct. China LAB Prices declined by approximately 10.1% as feedstock costs weakened, export demand slowed, and inventories improved.

Spain LAB Price Trend

Spain experienced an increase of approximately 64.8% in LAB prices during Q2 2026 compared with the previous quarter.

The main factors behind the increase were higher Benzene costs and healthy export demand. European energy and logistics markets were also affected by geopolitical uncertainty, increasing concerns about transportation expenses and supply movement.

These factors kept the LAB market firm for much of the quarter. The LAB Price Chart showed elevated export pricing, while the LAB Price Index reflected the higher production-cost environment.

In June, LAB Prices in Spain declined by approximately 11.8%. The decline was associated with softer feedstock costs and weaker export demand.

The June correction suggests that buyers were becoming more careful about making new purchases as the market moved away from its earlier cost pressure.

Germany LAB Price Trend

Germany recorded a Q2 2026 increase of approximately 61.8% compared with Q1 2026.

Unlike the export markets, the German assessment reflects imported LAB pricing on a CIF Hamburg basis from Spain. This means that landed costs, shipping conditions, and import demand are important parts of the pricing picture.

During Q2, higher import costs and healthy demand from detergent and cleaning product manufacturers supported the market. Shipping uncertainty also contributed to elevated import quotations across Europe.

The LAB Price Index remained firm because landed costs were higher, while the LAB Price Chart reflected the strong movement in import pricing.

In June, German LAB Prices declined by approximately 11.6% as import demand softened and supplier offers weakened.

This movement shows that changes in international logistics and buyer behavior can have a meaningful effect on imported LAB prices.

India LAB Price Trend

India recorded the largest quarterly increase among the markets covered in this assessment, with LAB imported prices rising by approximately 68.8% compared with Q1 2026.

The Indian market was affected by several factors at the same time. Higher Benzene values increased the underlying cost of LAB, while imported material also faced higher freight and logistics expenses.

Demand from detergent and surfactant manufacturers remained healthy, helping to support market pricing. Domestic suppliers also maintained firm pricing because of increased production costs.

International shipping uncertainty added another challenge. Since India depends on imported LAB from major supplying regions, changes in freight costs and shipping conditions can quickly influence the final landed price.

The LAB Price Chart for India therefore reflected a strong upward movement during Q2, while the LAB Price Index remained supported by elevated feedstock and import costs.

However, June brought a correction of approximately 12.9%. Softer feedstock costs, more moderate import demand, and cautious purchasing behavior contributed to the decline.

What the June Correction Tells Us

One of the most important features of Q2 2026 was the contrast between the strong quarterly increase and the decline seen in June.

After prices moved significantly higher, buyers became more careful about purchasing. When buyers expect prices to stabilize or decline, they may delay fresh orders and use existing inventories instead.

At the same time, feedstock markets began to soften. Lower raw material costs reduced some of the pressure that had pushed LAB prices higher earlier in the quarter.

Inventory improvement also played a role. Better availability can reduce the urgency to purchase material immediately, creating additional pressure on sellers to adjust their offers.

Across the markets covered, June LAB price declines were approximately 10% to 13%. This common direction suggests that the market was moving into a period of correction after the sharp Q2 increase.

LAB Price Chart: Reading the Q2 Movement

The LAB Price Chart for Q2 2026 can be understood in two broad stages.

The first stage was the sharp increase during most of the quarter. Higher feedstock costs, healthy downstream demand, and logistics uncertainty pushed prices upward across Saudi Arabia, Qatar, China, Spain, Germany, and India.

The second stage came in June, when prices began to move lower. Softer feedstock markets, weaker export and import demand, improving inventories, and cautious buying behavior all contributed to the correction.

For anyone following LAB prices, this pattern is important. A quarterly average can show a large increase even when prices begin declining toward the end of the period. Therefore, it is useful to look at both the overall quarterly movement and the month-to-month direction.

LAB Price Index and Market Direction

The LAB Price Index remained elevated during Q2 because the cost environment was significantly higher than in the previous quarter.

An index is useful because it provides a broader view of market direction rather than focusing on only one individual transaction. When feedstock prices, transportation expenses, and downstream demand all move in the same direction, the index can provide a clearer picture of the overall market environment.

The Q2 2026 movement showed strong upward pressure, followed by a noticeable correction in June. This indicates that the market was highly sensitive to changes in feedstock costs, demand, inventories, and logistics.

LAB Price Forecast: What to Watch Ahead

Looking beyond Q2, the direction of LAB prices will depend heavily on several market factors.

Feedstock prices will remain one of the most important variables. Any renewed increase in Benzene, kerosene, or crude-related costs could create fresh upward pressure on LAB production costs.

Demand will also be important. If detergent, surfactant, and cleaning product manufacturers continue purchasing at healthy levels, suppliers may have greater support for firm pricing. On the other hand, weaker downstream demand could encourage buyers to delay purchases and put pressure on sellers.

Inventory levels will also need attention. Improving inventories can reduce short-term buying pressure, while tighter availability can have the opposite effect.

Finally, international freight and geopolitical conditions remain relevant because LAB is traded across major global markets. Changes in shipping costs or logistics risks can influence both export quotations and delivered import prices.

For these reasons, the LAB Price Forecast should be viewed as a market outlook rather than a fixed outcome. Future prices can change as feedstock, demand, inventories, and logistics conditions develop.
