Kaddu Dal Sabzi – A Healthy Bottle Gourd and Chana Dal Curry
Introduction
Kaddu Dal Sabzi is a comforting one-pot dish that combines bottle gourd (lauki) with split Bengal gram (chana dal). Instead of preparing dal and vegetables separately, this recipe brings both together in a nutritious and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

1 bottle gourd (peeled and chopped)

100 g split Bengal gram (soaked for 1 hour)

2 green chilies

1 bay leaf

1 tbsp grated coconut

1 tsp black pepper powder

1 tsp coriander powder

1 tsp turmeric powder

Curry leaves

Fresh coriander leaves

Salt to taste
Method

Heat oil in a pan.

Add Panch Phoran, bay leaf, and curry leaves. Let them splutter.

Add onions and green chilies and sauté until soft.

Stir in bottle gourd, soaked chana dal, tomatoes, turmeric, coriander powder, pepper powder, and salt.

Mix everything thoroughly.

Add sufficient water and cover the pan.

Cook until both the bottle gourd and chana dal become tender.
