Is Oman Visa Free for Indians, the 14 Day Rule and Who Really Qualifies
Author : Mayuresh M | Published On : 30 Oct 2026
Oman allows more than 100 nationalities to enter visa free for up to 14 days, but Indian passport holders are in a conditional group. Some travel sites say "Indians are visa free", and others say a visa is always needed. Both are partly wrong. The official eVisa portal is the place to confirm your status before you fly.

Short answer
Not all Indians are visa free. According to guides and a Wikipedia summary of Oman's policy, an Indian citizen can enter for up to 14 days without a visa if they hold a valid visa or residence permit from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan or a Schengen country, or a GCC residence permit in an approved profession. Without one of these, you need an eVisa.
The qualifying conditions
-
A valid visa or residence permit from one of the listed countries, valid for the period of your stay
-
A return or onward ticket
-
Accommodation details
-
A passport with enough validity
Check the portal, because the list and wording can change.
What about the 2026 decision
One guide says Royal Oman Police Decision 109 of 2026, effective 3 August 2026, introduced a zero fee 14 day tourist visa, with the qualifying nationalities to be announced later. The same guide says Indians were not on the published list at the time. Another guide describes the free 14 day entry for Indians with a qualifying visa under revised executive regulations. These accounts differ, so rely on the portal.

Can you convert to a longer stay
A guide says holders of the 14 day free entry can convert to a longer tourist visa before it expires, and advises applying through the Royal Oman Police two to three days before expiry. Check the current process before you rely on it.
