Industrial Air and Oil Filter China Sourcing Checklist

Filter elements that look interchangeable can leak around a poor seal or bypass incorrectly. When sourcing industrial air and oil filters from China, check the housing, fluid and actual operating pressure together.

Define what the element must remove

Start with the equipment OEM part number and the contaminant the element must remove. A nominal outside diameter says little about whether the gasket lands correctly in a particular filter head. Record the actual operating pressure, temperature and flow instead of using a nominal size. Oil viscosity at start-up can raise differential pressure; the acceptable value should be judged at realistic temperature.

Compare filtration efficiency only when particle size and test method are stated. Check gasket geometry, thread dimensions and bypass-valve requirements against the housing. Filter efficiency ratings are meaningful only when particle size and test procedure are identified. Ask whether the filter medium is compatible with the oil, solvent or process fluid.

Inspect end caps, adhesive joints and pleat spacing on a sample element. The medium must tolerate the liquid and operating temperature without softening adhesive or distorting end caps.

Testing the sample element

Specify allowable clean-element pressure drop and the replacement threshold in service. Check collapse strength and the consequences of a blocked element at peak demand. Bypass-valve settings and collapse strength matter during blockage, even though neither is visible in a clean-product photo. Use the same incoming-inspection gauges for every shipment batch.

Agree on lot identification so failed elements can be traced back to the material batch. Keep a removed failed element identified by machine and date so a later supplier claim can be investigated. Include disposal procedures for spent media exposed to regulated substances.
