Your Bunk Is Your Kingdom
At camp, your bunk is the one space that is completely yours. You share a cabin with your bunkmates, you share meals in the dining hall, you share the lake and the fields and the activity spaces. But that bed? That small rectangle of mattress and wall space? That is yours. And how you decorate it says everything about who you are.
Decorating your bunk is one of the best parts of arriving at camp. It is the first thing you do after unpacking and it instantly transforms a bare bed into a place that feels like home. Whether your style is colorful and loud or cozy and minimal, there are so many ways to make your space feel special.

Start with the Bed
Your bedding is the foundation of your bunk look. Everything else builds from there. Pick a comforter that you love because you are going to see it every single day. Then layer on a throw blanket that complements it. Add your boyfriend pillow against the wall and toss a couple of decorative pillows at the front. Already your bunk is looking 100 times better than everyone who just threw a sleeping bag on the mattress.
The Wall and Ceiling
Most camps allow you to decorate the wall next to your bed and sometimes the underside of the bunk above you if you are on a bottom bunk. This is prime real estate. Wall clings and posters are the easiest way to add personality without damaging anything. They peel on and peel off cleanly at the end of the summer.
Photo displays are huge at camp. Bring printed photos of your friends, family, pets, and favorite memories. String them up with fairy lights or use photo clips on a line. By the end of the summer you will add camp photos to the display and it becomes this evolving gallery of your whole summer.
Message boards are another great option. A small dry erase board or a felt letter board where bunkmates can leave each other notes and inside jokes. It becomes a communication hub for your bunk crew.
Fun Accessories That Campers Love
Beyond the basics, there are a bunch of smaller items that make bunk life more fun. Shoe charms are everywhere at camp right now. Kids decorate their Crocs and shower shoes with them and they become collectible and tradeable. Friendship bracelet kits are a camp classic that never goes out of style. Making bracelets during rest hour is one of those timeless camp activities.
Stick on earrings are another fun one, especially for younger campers who do not have pierced ears yet. They come in all kinds of designs and they are a fun way to accessorize without any commitment. A small bluetooth speaker (if your camp allows them) is perfect for playing music during cleanup or rest hour.
Bunk Decorating for Boys
Boys decorate their bunks too, just differently. Sports decals, team posters, cool blankets, and LED lights are popular with the guys. A few well placed items make a big difference without feeling like they are trying too hard. Our boys bunk decorations collection has everything from sports themed decals to message boards that work for any style.
The Autograph Tradition
One of the best camp bunk traditions is the autograph pillow. At the beginning of the summer it is a clean, blank pillow. By the last day it is covered in signatures, messages, drawings, and inside jokes from every friend your camper made. It is the best souvenir because it is personal, it is created by the people who made the summer special, and your kid can actually use it at home all year long.
We carry autograph pillows that are specifically designed for this tradition. Send one to camp and watch it come home as one of your kid's most treasured possessions.
Pull It All Together
The key to a great bunk is having a plan. Pick a color scheme or a vibe before you start shopping. Coordinate your bedding, pillows, decorations, and accessories around that theme. It does not have to be matchy matchy but having a cohesive look makes the whole space feel intentional and put together.
