Global investigations and compliance firm Guidepost Solutions appointed Joseph E. Evans as Senior Managing Director within its Global Investigations + Regulatory Compliance practice. Evans brings over 30 years of financial crime experience spanning international banking, regulatory enforcement, and federal law enforcement. In his new role, Evans will lead client engagements focusing on anti-money laundering (AML), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) compliance, sanctions programs, and regulatory remediation for financial institutions. Furthermore, he will guide organizations through emerging oversight areas, including digital assets, cryptocurrency compliance, and prediction markets. Consequently, Evans will help clients construct resilient risk management frameworks capable of withstanding strict regulator and board scrutiny.
Julie Myers Wood, CEO of Guidepost Solutions, noted that Evans has operated at the highest levels of financial-crime compliance within heavily scrutinized institutions. She emphasized that his executive background in building enterprise-wide risk frameworks and navigating intense regulatory pressure will be an immediate asset to the firm's clients.
Extensive Banking and Executive Leadership Experience
Before joining Guidepost Solutions, Evans held senior executive leadership roles across major global banking institutions. Most recently, he served as Americas Head of Anti-Financial Crime and BSA/AML Officer at Deutsche Bank, directing anti-financial crime risk management across the U.S. and Latin America. Previously, he worked as Global Head of Financial Crimes Operations at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group. Additionally, he served as Executive Officer of Global Financial Crime Compliance at HSBC Holdings Plc during a critical period of regulatory oversight under a Deferred Prosecution Agreement. Across these roles, Evans built transaction monitoring, screening, Know Your Customer (KYC), and internal investigation functions, and drafted enterprise-wide risk appetite frameworks.
Deep Federal Law Enforcement and Military Background
Before his career in global banking, Evans served in federal law enforcement as Regional Director for North and Central America and Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Division at the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). In these positions, he led complex international investigations targeting transnational narcotics and money-laundering organizations. He also served as an infantry and reconnaissance officer in the United States Marine Corps. Evans is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS) and holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from the University of Alabama. Ultimately, his combined law enforcement and banking experience positions him to deliver actionable strategic counsel to financial sector clients.
