Guidelines for Condo Interior Design in Toronto

Living in condominiums is considered a practical and efficient way to cope with the city lifestyle as it offers better access to schools, workplace, shops and other amenities. And in a city like Toronto, they are generally the only affordable option for most people.

Many condos are quite small, and newer ones come in typically at less than six hundred square feet. You really need to be good at making the best use of that limited space. But this limitation doesn’t mean that you can’t transform it into a beautiful, modern and inviting space!

There’s lots of interior design options for condos that you can use to maximize the space in your apartment and make it your perfect home and space. You can choose a single theme for the complete condo or use different themes for each room of the condo, according to your family’s preferences and needs.

In this post, we weill describe some of the ways that you can design your condo so it can be a place of peace and quiet, a place of relaxation, and also stylish and functional. We will show you some of these ideas and how we’ve implemented them in our condo interior design in Toronto projects.

Utilize A Chic And Elegant Interior Design

This is a timeless approach to condo design. This timeless approach appeals to many different types of people and is impressive upon first seeing it. But contrary to what many people believe, this approach does not need to be expensive. There’s a lot of unique and interesting design accents you can acquire through cheap means, such as décor shop sales, Facebook Marketplace and garage sales, and home department stores. There are a number of these stores in the Greater Toronto Area, so you shouldn’t have a problem finding them.

We recommend using solid colour upholstery of brown, beige, and grey along with the proper lighting fixtures which can really help bring out the chic look. Use indirect lighting along with focused light on some elements of the room to complement the furniture and decor items. Focused light has a way of drawing your attention to the lighted item, so you can use it for your accent pieces. Also, use furniture which is polished and glossy to achieve that elegant look.

You can see an example of this in our design projects for our client. In this image note the use of grey furniture, spotlighting, and polished wood to give that elegant look.

Use Prints And Patterns in your Condo Design

Another way that you can design your small condo is by using prints and patterns on different elements in the rooms. Too much usage of these patterns is not recommended as they will make the area look busy, which is the opposite of what you are trying to achieve in an already small condominium.

That is why we recommend pairing prints and plains together, so they balance each other out. You can use patterns and prints on one of the walls of a room and keep the others plain and solid-coloured.

You can use prints and patterns on your upholstery and complement them with solid coloured items so that they don’t appear too loud or bold. These patterns can be anything from geometric prints, lines, crisscrosses, zebra prints, polka dots, stripes, or any other type of pattern.
