From 0 to 7,000 LinkedIn Followers: My Digital Marketing Journey, Lessons & Growth

Author : yamin malek | Published On : 08 Sep 2026

Reaching 7,000+ LinkedIn followers was never a target I thought I would achieve this quickly.

For me, it is not just a follower count.

It represents the people who followed my journey, read my content, shared their feedback, connected with me, and supported me along the way.

This is the story of how my digital marketing journey started — and how LinkedIn became an important part of it.

Where My Digital Marketing Journey Started

My digital marketing journey started toward the end of 2024.

At that time, I was still trying to understand the basics of digital marketing and figure out where this field could take me.

I started learning digital marketing through the Ahmedabad School of Digital Marketing (ASDM).

A special thank you to Love Tyagi, Ankit Rajput, and the entire ASDM team for giving me the foundation, knowledge, and confidence to take my first steps into the industry.

What I learned during that phase is still helping me today.

But learning the concepts was only the beginning.

The real learning started when I began working with businesses and clients.

From Learning to Working With Real Businesses

My first job was at Ziya Healthcare.

My first client was a solar installation business.

Those experiences taught me something that courses cannot fully teach:

Digital marketing becomes different when real money, real clients, and real business goals are involved.

Over time, my journey took me from working with an agency to where I am today at Novotion LLP, where I work across different areas of digital marketing.

Today, my work involves:

  • SEO

  • Social Media Marketing

  • Meta Ads

  • Google Ads

  • Local SEO

  • AI Automation

I've also had the opportunity to work with 30+ clients across different industries, including restaurants, doctors, hotels, e-commerce, manufacturing, resorts, and other businesses.

One experience I am particularly proud of was generating 100+ real and confirmed leads for a business, which played a major role in helping that business grow almost 10X.

But the numbers are not the biggest lesson.

The process behind those numbers is.

What Working With Clients Taught Me

Working with different businesses taught me that there is no single digital marketing strategy that works for everyone.

Before creating a campaign, you need to understand the business.

Who is the customer?

What problem does the business solve?

What does the customer actually want?

Where does the customer spend time online?

What does the business need — awareness, leads, sales, or something else?

These questions often matter more than simply choosing the latest marketing trend.

I've learned the importance of:

Consistency.

Understanding the client before creating a strategy.

Communicating the plan clearly.

Testing and learning from results.

And most importantly:

Believing in the work you're doing.

SEO, client meetings, campaigns, content creation and reporting have all taught me different lessons.

Then LinkedIn Became Part of My Journey

I also started posting regularly on LinkedIn.

Initially, I was simply sharing what I was learning about digital marketing.

SEO.

Social media.

Marketing strategies.

Industry updates.

Personal experiences.

Lessons from working with clients.

I wasn't trying to become an influencer.

I was trying to document my journey.

And slowly, something interesting happened.

People started engaging with my content.

People started connecting with me.

People started sharing their experiences.

And eventually, LinkedIn started bringing something I never expected:

Genuine client inquiries and calls.

That changed the way I looked at personal branding.

7,000 Followers Is More Than a Number

Today, I've reached 7,000+ followers on LinkedIn.

But I don't see 7,000 as a vanity metric.

I see it as 7,000+ people who decided to connect with my journey.

Every follower represents someone who gave me a few seconds of their attention.

Some people have followed from the beginning.

Some discovered my content recently.

Some have commented.

Some have shared my posts.

Some have simply watched silently.

And every one of them has been part of this journey.

That's why reaching 7K feels special.

What I Learned From Growing on LinkedIn

If there is one thing I've learned from building my presence on LinkedIn, it is this:

You don't need to be an expert before you start sharing.

You can share what you're learning.

You can share your experiences.

You can share your failures.

You can share experiments.

You can share results.

You can share your perspective.

The important thing is to be genuine and consistent.

You don't need to copy someone else's personal brand.

You need to build your own.

For me, LinkedIn became a place where I could combine learning, creating, networking and personal branding.

And that consistency eventually created opportunities I wasn't expecting.

From 7K to 10K

7,000 followers is a milestone.

But it is not the destination.

The next goal is 10,000.

And this time, I don't just want to grow the number.

I want to create better content.

Share better insights.

Learn more.

Work with more businesses.

Generate better results.

And continue building a personal brand around digital marketing.

The journey from learning the basics in 2024 to reaching 7,000+ LinkedIn followers has already taught me a lot.

And I know there is still a lot more to learn.

7K achieved.

Now, let's work towards 10K. 🚀

Final Thought

If you're currently at the beginning of your digital marketing journey, don't wait until you become an expert to start.

Start learning.

Start experimenting.

Start sharing.

Start connecting with people.

And most importantly, stay consistent.

Because sometimes, the journey you're documenting today can become the personal brand you're proud of tomorrow.
