Finding The Best Exhibition Space With These Tips

Finding the perfect space for your exhibition, choosing the right trade shows to attend, and deciding whether to purchase or rent your exhibit are all important decisions that can influence your overall exhibition success. But once these choices have been made, have you considered which part of the show floor could give you the greatest value and visibility? Think about entering your favourite department store or a large retail outlet. The entrance is usually carefully arranged, with attractive displays and special offers positioned just inside the doors. This is not accidental. Retailers understand that customers are most attentive when they first enter, so they use this space to capture attention and encourage engagement.
Trade shows work in much the same way. Not every exhibition space offers the same level of exposure, even if organisers suggest otherwise. Some locations naturally attract crowds, while others can remain surprisingly quiet. Choosing the right position can therefore make a major difference to how many people notice and interact with your exhibition.
When visitors first enter a show floor, they are generally energetic and interested in discovering what the event has to offer. They are ready to explore different displays, gather information, and learn about new products or services. Having your booth close to the main entrance allows you to take advantage of this initial attention.
The main entrance is not the only area that can attract large crowds. Food courts, coffee stations, refreshment areas, and restrooms are also popular gathering points throughout an exhibition. Almost every attendee will visit these locations at some stage of the event.
Placing your exhibition close to the exits of these high-traffic areas can create a steady flow of potential visitors. Attendees returning from a coffee break or walking back towards meetings may naturally pass your booth. An attractive display and clear call to action can encourage them to stop and find out more. These locations may not always be considered traditional prime spaces, but they can be highly effective for generating casual visits and improving brand exposure.
Corner booths and spaces positioned where two aisles meet can also be excellent choices. These areas often attract more movement than booths situated in the middle of a long aisle because visitors approach them from several directions.
If the show floor plan is available before you book your space, take some time to study it carefully. You may want to consider positioning your booth near major sponsors or well-known exhibitors, particularly when they attract significant crowds and are not direct competitors.
Finally, when choosing an exhibition space, consider the facilities and services offered by the venue. Look for excellent media and technology capabilities, reliable on-site security, convenient backstage areas, and suitable storage for equipment and exhibition materials. Easy ground-floor access can also make setting up and moving equipment much simpler for exhibitors and sponsors.
