Our Kindergarten program prepares children for school through engaging, play-based learning experiences that build confidence, independence and a love of learning. State and territory regulatory authorities visit services to undertake quality assessment and rating, support quality improvement, monitor compliance, and investigate complaints and incidents. Across the year we will focus on the below overarching goals term by term, broken down from the five Learning and Development Outcomes in the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework. This provides a focus point to guide our year and ensure children feel prepared for school. Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.

We work collaboratively with families and local schools to ensure every child experiences a confident, positive and successful transition into primary school. Families are encouraged to share this assessment with their child’s primary school, helping teachers gain valuable insights into the child’s strengths, interests and learning journey, and supporting a smooth and informed transition to Prep.

The Victorian Government provides Free Kinder funding for eligible 3 and 4-year-old children attending a funded kindergarten program. This funding has been applied by KU to enable children to attend this kindergarten at no cost to families. Kinder Haven Wantirna offers long day care and a kindergarten program for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years, conveniently located for families in Wantirna, Glen Waverley, Wheelers Hill, Knoxfield, Heathmont and Boronia. Regular activities such as – yoga, self-reflection, meditation, music, creative arts and the Oppia “I Can” program all help promote a stronger self-image.
