Common challenges include underdeveloped plots, repetitive language, weak openings, or failing to link the story clearly to the pictures.

Regular practice in specialised classes helps students build confidence, expand expressive vocabulary, and internalise exam techniques. Many centres keep groups small for personalised attention and incorporate interactive elements such as oral storytelling or picture discussion before writing. Strong performance in picture composition contributes significantly to overall Chinese paper scores and supports broader language development.
