China Security Patrol Robot Dog: A Site Trial Plan

Floor grates and metal-clad rooms can bring a robot patrol to a halt. Test a security patrol robot dog from China along the actual route under supervision, including areas with weak wireless coverage.
The route is the first specification
Walk the proposed route and mark stairs, gratings, puddles and narrow thresholds. A short promotional walk on level flooring does not establish performance on grates, ramps or puddles. Specify whether the main job is video inspection, thermal checks or scheduled patrol. Battery time should be measured while carrying the camera or thermal payload intended for deployment. Test battery runtime with the actual sensor payload and walking speed. Map wireless signal coverage in basements, switch rooms and metal-clad areas. Weak wireless coverage can occur near equipment rooms even if the main corridor works well.
Define a safe return or stop behaviour for lost communications. Review how the robot detects people, forklifts and unexpected obstacles. The safe response to a communications failure needs to be demonstrated under supervision. Check operating-temperature limits and performance on slippery surfaces. Decide where recordings are stored and how access to sensitive facility footage is controlled. Industrial video records may contain sensitive personnel or process information and require access controls.
Run a supervised acceptance route in realistic lighting and shift conditions. Assign trained staff to charging, cleaning, incident review and recovery. Charging and recovery tasks remain human responsibilities even if the planned patrol is automated. Calculate maintenance and spare-part needs across the intended service period.
