Billoo Park Kindergarten is operated by One Tree Community Services Inc, which contributes 1% to the total available child care capacity in Victoria. Our service pets will enable the children to experience the joys of having a pet and provide them with the knowledge and skills to care for the animals. Types of animals ideal for this program and it goals are those that children can cuddle, groom or hold (e.g. rabbits boronia childcare and guinea pigs).
These conversations enable our teaching team to plan proactively, support each child’s individual learning journey, and ensure the kindergarten program responds to the needs and priorities of children and their families. They want to learn and explore, which is why we teach through play-based learning. It supports language, motor skills, memory, emotions and social relationships. Educators plan play-based learning experiences based on children’s interests and goals. We are a one room kindergarten with 30 places for 3-year-olds, and 30 places for 4-year-old children. Our evidence-based Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood. Fresh meals are prepared daily by our on-site chef, with menus planned to give children energy for play, learning and rest. Families can stay connected through our family app, with photos and updates about routines and learning experiences from the day.

We offer a rotating seasonal menu, providing breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and a late snack freshly made daily. We are committed to sustainability through hands-on initiatives like having recycling bins in every room. We also encourage families to contribute by bringing in jars, lids, cardboard, magazines, and scrap paper, which we repurpose for creative projects and learning activities. Together, we teach children the importance of caring for our environment.
Together, we identify goals based on each family’s aspirations, priorities and their child’s interests, ensuring learning experiences are meaningful, purposeful and responsive to each stage of development. This collaborative approach provides consistent support from a child’s earliest years through to their transition to Prep. Through play, interactions with peers and relationships with trusted educators, children develop confidence, independence, communication and social skills, emotional regulation, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging. They also build positive learning dispositions, along with the early literacy and numeracy foundations that support future success at school. Our teachers intentionally design engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage children to explore, investigate, create, collaborate and solve problems.

We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, which views educators as co-learners who collaborate with children in the learning process. A parent information evening is held in late November to partner with our parents to ensure their children are ready to begin school the next year. Students are encouraged to seek meaning, be curious, collaborate, take risks and challenge themselves. This is achieved by building a strong academic foundation while also providing a holistic learning environment that promotes inquiry, creativity, questioning and exploration. This could either be in a sessional kindergarten or long day care service. We nurture children’s confidence as active participants in their learning, encouraging them to explore their own interests and strengths. Their sense of self and confidence grows as they make connections with each other and build trusting relationships. Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them. We build meaningful relationships with families by getting to know them and the learning goals they have for their child, incorporating their interests and skills. At St Luke's Primary School, we provide a comprehensive transition program for our ‘new’ Prep students. The children engage in fun activities which build their confidence and friendships, with their teachers and bigger buddies. Students become very familiar with our school so that they are ready when their school life begins.
