The TSA has several rules in place for what type of food you can take with you on an airplane. The rules are quite specific. Generally, there is quite a bit of flexibility for solid and packaged food. Here are some of the food items that you can take:
Packaged Meat and Cheeses
You can easily take solid food items, such as packages of meat and hard cheeses. Since both these items are non-liquid, you can bring them in your carry-on bag or checked luggage. And there is no size restriction for such items, but bag and weight restrictions do apply. To avoid issues, make sure they are in vacuum-sealed packaging. Or if you are taking creamy cheese products, check that they are less than 3.4 ounces.
Liquid Items

Instead, what you need to do is that you have to know about the allowable size limits. So, if you are taking liquid or gel items, make sure they do not exceed the size limit of 3.4 ounces. This is because the liquid and gel food items are treated like liquids and get toiletries, and the same rules apply.
