La Barceloneta

Some are family-friendly, while others have a more edgy vibe and are better suited to young people. The area is also known for its beaches, which are the most famous in Barcelona.

It’s a neighbourhood that has seen plenty of changes over the years, from the days when fishermen and metal workers made their homes here to the modernised version that it is today. While tourism has become a huge part of the economy here, residents still fight to keep their traditional calendar customs and way of life intact.

You’ll find lots of things to do in Barceloneta, from taking a stroll on the tree-lined boulevards to visiting one of the many museums and attractions. For example, you can visit the Catalunya History Museum or see a show at the Liceu opera house.

The Parc de la Guineueta, which is named after the Catalan word for fox (guineu), was inaugurated in 1971 with the aim of giving this growing working class neighbourhood some green spaces. Since the 1950s, this territory had received a large number of workers from the south of Spain who lived in shacks in nearby shantytowns. For more details please visit skatepark barcelona
