AI Can Create Attention. It Cannot Decide What Deserves It

AI has made one part of marketing remarkably easy: creating things. A single idea can become a social post, an email, an advertisement, a video script, and several variations within minutes. For marketers, that speed is useful. But I think it also creates a new problem that businesses are only beginning to notice.

As the best digital marketer in Calicut, I see the bigger challenge as deciding what deserves a customer's limited attention. Creating another post is easy. Creating something that gives a customer a genuine reason to stop scrolling is much harder.

That is why, as the best digital marketer in Calicut, I do not look at AI simply as a content creation tool. I look at it as a way to explore ideas faster, test different possibilities, and understand what might actually matter to an audience.

There is a huge difference between producing content and creating attention.

A business could publish five times a day and still be forgettable. Another business might publish once a week and give people something they genuinely want to read, save, discuss, or share.

AI makes the first approach incredibly easy. It can keep the content machine running almost indefinitely. But more output does not automatically create more interest.

Recent 2026 research on AI driven advertising found that perceived relevance was a particularly strong driver of emotional and behavioral engagement, while transparency played an important role in credibility.

That finding matches something I notice repeatedly in digital marketing. People are surrounded by messages competing for their attention. They do not necessarily need another perfectly written caption. They need a reason to care about what they are seeing.

This is where human thinking becomes more valuable, not less.

AI can give me ten different headlines. I still have to decide which one sounds believable. It can suggest twenty content ideas. I still have to recognize which one actually fits the audience. It can rewrite a message in different tones. I still have to know which tone feels appropriate for the brand.

The technology increases the number of possibilities.

Experience helps narrow them down.

I think this is going to become one of the more interesting changes in digital marketing. As AI makes average content easier for everyone to produce, originality and judgment become harder to ignore.

The advantage may no longer belong to the business that can create the most content.

It may belong to the marketer who knows which content is worth creating in the first place.
