A beautiful set of window treatments can do wonders for your space. Unfortunately, even the most luxurious curtains won’t do anything good for your room if you get some details wrong.

There are many considerations to make when shopping for a curtain for your home. In this article we will go through important details to get right when buying curtains and outline the types of curtains we have for you at Las Sola.

How to Measure for Curtains?

Curtain width and length are the two important measurements you need to get right to get the most protection from your curtain. When it comes to measuring for width, you will need a curtain pole or track in place. If you do not have these in place, fit one before proceeding.

Measure the width of your pole, minus the finials. Now. double or triple the measurement to determine the ideal curtain panel width. If you can’t find a piece with the exact same measurement, run off the measurement to the nearest available curtain options. Choosing a larger curtain option will give you more control over the amount of light. Plus, there’s an increased sense of grandeur and formality.

In case your window is too wide, consider getting multiple panels to accommodate the width and achieve the desired fullness. However, in this case, you will need to divide the above-determined ideal curtain panel width by two to determine minimum width for each individual curtain panel.

To measure the length, hang the pole or rod several inches above the window to help your ceiling appear taller. Now measure from the top of the rod down to where you would like the curtain to hang. For example, you can choose to end it an inch from the window sill, 6 inches below, or let it graze an inch above the floor.

That being said, don’t mount your curtain rod or track after ordering the curtains, wait till they have arrived in case minor adjustments are necessary.

Now that you know how to determine the ideal curtain panel width and length, we will give you a brief outline of the types of curtains available to purchase from our shop.

Las Sola Curtains Based on Material

We have sheer curtains in designs such as modern white with black love stripes that’s perfect for styling up your children’s room, modern white/beige polyester with tree branch or leaf patterns for bringing a touch of nature to a room and modern white fringe with eye-catching colored balls to bring your window to life.

This soft and airier material offers a fantastic balance between light and privacy. It allows soft diffused light and blocks glare-inducing rays while also offering some amount of cover from curious passersby.

If you want a classic look, we have plushy velvet curtains in various styles including grommet, soft top and pleated. Velvet offers better privacy, and light blocking than sheer and with additional soundproofing and insulation benefits missing in the latter.

We have linen curtains, too, for those looking to spruce up rooms with some rustic elegance. Linen has hollow fibers for air circulation and combines beautiful, natural texture with neutral tones that will blend well in various decors, modern, coastal, etc.

The hollow fibers also allow wicking to eliminate moisture that would otherwise encourage dust mites, mold, and mildew and trigger allergies. Above all, it’s naturally strong and allows soft diffused light.

If you are looking for outdoor curtains, we also have some made of 100% acrylic or linen material that naturally withstands solar rays without damage.

Las Sola Curtains by Style

Our curtains come in pleated, grommet, soft top and track kit styles. Grommet curtains are contemporary curtains that feature large metal rings along the top to slide along curtain rods easily.

Pleated curtains are traditional types of curtains with box, pinch or goblet pleat sewn into the fabric to create desired drape and fullness. Pleated curtains can also feature rings to slide along rods easily.  Soft top curtains feature a pocket at the top to allow the curtain rod through.

You can also use a ribbon to hang these types of curtains to loop a tie around the rod. For ease of testing, we provide fabric swatches so you can see how the materials and colors will look on your window before buying. Get your sample today to conduct your test.
