magna exposed to unfiltered piggery effluent was 23.2 (17.7-30.4)%. The 24-h EC50 protozoan toxicity to T. thermophila exposed to 1% HLD veterinary pharmaceuticals was 0.014 μg/L. Thus, the study established the different sensitivities of freshwater organisms to various percentage levels of piggery effluent and high- and low-level doses of veterinary pharmaceutical. The piggery effluent and the pharmaceutical cocktail mixtures have potential toxicological effects on the freshwater ecosystem. The addition of 'clinically significant impairment' (American Psychiatric Association, Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, Author, 2013) to the diagnostic criteria for autism in DSM-5 attempts to establish a threshold for the condition. However, the increased prominence of the neurodiversity paradigm and social model of disability runs counter to the idea that characteristics of autism are fundamentally impairing. Consequently, diagnostic criteria for autism are becoming misaligned with the contemporary views of 'disorder' and 'disability'. In this commentary, we outline six clinical issues that arise from this misalignment during diagnostic assessment for autism, and the tension this creates in making diagnostic decisions. We conclude by considering ways the 'clinically significant impairment' criterion could be changed, and the implications this would have on clinical practice, and the concept of autism.Research shows elevated gender variance among autistic people and more autistic traits among gender diverse people, each of which is related to mental health concerns. Little work has explored broad features of these presentations in a non-clinical sample. College students (n = 174) ages 18-22 years completed questionnaires assessing the broader autism phenotype (BAP), autistic features, nonconformity to gender norms, and internalizing symptoms. Those with more BAP features or autistic communication reported more nonconformity to gender norms. Higher levels of internalizing symptoms were related to more gender nonconformity, BAP, and autistic features. Gender nonconformity marginally moderated the effect of BAP on depression but not anxiety. The BAP, autistic features, and gender nonconformity are important in understanding mental well-being.Appropriately manipulating macrophage M1/M2 phenotypic transition is a promising therapeutic strategy for tissue repair after myocardial infarction (MI). Here we showed that gene ablation of hypoxia-induced mitogenic factor (HIMF) in mice (Himf-/- and HIMFflox/flox;Lyz2-Cre) attenuated M1 macrophage-dominated inflammatory response and promoted M2 macrophage accumulation in infarcted hearts. This in turn reduced myocardial infarct size and improved cardiac function after MI. Correspondingly, expression of HIMF in macrophages induced expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines; the culturing medium of HIMF-overexpressing macrophages impaired the cardiac fibroblast viability and function. Furthermore, macrophage HIMF was found to up-regulate C/EBP-homologous protein (CHOP) expression, which exaggerated the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines via activating signal transducer of activator of transcription 1 (STAT1) and 3 (STAT3) signaling. Together these data suggested that HIMF promotes M1-type and prohibits M2-type macrophage polarization by activating the CHOP-STAT1/STAT3 signaling pathway to negatively regulate myocardial repair. HIMF might thus constitute a novel target to treat MI.This work investigated the efficiency of bioremediation of heavy fuel oil (HFO) in aqueous solutions by living Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms, also known as water hyacinth. Possibility of using post-biosorption macrophytes to produce briquettes was also studied. HFO was characterized by its density, viscosity, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. Water hyacinth was characterized by scanning electron microscope, pH of zero point of charge, buoyancy, and wettability. Experiments were performed to evaluate effects of contact time and initial oil concentration on biosorption. E. crassipes presented a hydrophobic nature, ideal for the treatment of oily effluents. Hollow structures in macrophytes were also identified, which favor capillary rise and retention of oils of high density and viscosity. Biosorption efficiency of HFO reached 94.8% in tests with initial concentration of 160 mg.L-1. A calorific value of 4022 kcal.kg-1 was obtained in briquettes made of water hyacinth post-biosorption. These results reinforce the great potential of E. crassipes as a sustainable and efficient alternative for treatment of oily effluents. This inquiry contributes to the previous literature by analyzing the empirical linkage between the development of the financial sector and carbon emissions in the presence of good governance. Specifically, we examine the ability of good governance in moderating the negative effect of financial development on environmental quality in Saudi Arabia over the period 1996-2016. Different indicators of financial development and governance quality are included in the analysis. MSAB cell line Using the Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS) estimator, we find (i) the exostence of unconditional effects of the three indicators of financial sector development on increasing carbon emissions in most models; (ii) the indicators of governance quality increase carbon emissions in most models; (iii) the net effects on CO2 emissions are negative from the complementarity between the indicators of financial sector development and political and institutional governance, meaning that the development of financial sector reduces carbon emissions if it is accompanied by good institutional and political governance. The increase in population in urban areas has increased the demand for housing. In cities that could not adapt to the population increase, the attempt to fit more houses in a unit area has emerged. This situation caused the application of created designs ignoring the natural and microclimate data of the cities. Since Erzurum is located on the high plain surrounded by mountains, it is one of the coldest cities in Turkey with its long-term annual mean temperature of 5.7 °C. The aim of this research is to reveal the effects of the urban morphology on thermal comfort and its relationship with air pollution in Erzurum. Steps of the research methodology can be summarized as determination of measurement areas, physiologically equivalent temperature (PET) analysis, air pollution analysis, and mapping. The city center is located at an altitude of 1850 m from the sea level, and the open rural area has the lowest altitude of 1650 m from the sea level with respect to the surrounding mountainous terrain. The microclimate data of the meteorological stations in the three study areas and government monitoring station and air pollution data have been recorded hourly in 2018.
