How Gas Spring Lift Works

The basic structure of gas spring includes pressure cylinder, piston rod, piston, sealing guide sleeve, filler (inert gas or oil-gas mixture) , in-cylinder control element and out-of-cylinder control element (for controllable gas spring) and joint. Its working principle is that in the closed pressure cylinder filled with inert gas or oil and gas mixture, so that the pressure in the chamber is several times higher than atmospheric pressure or even dozens of times. Because the cross-sectional area of the piston rod is smaller than that of the piston, this pressure difference drives the piston and the piston rod to move, thereby supporting or adjusting the height and angle of the object.

Types of lift gas spring

Gas Springs can be divided into several types according to their functions and application fields:

Lift Gas Spring: the most widely used type of Gas Spring, mainly for support, with the shortest and longest two positions, travel can not be self-stop. It is widely used in automobile, engineering machinery, printing machinery and textile equipment because of its portability, stable operation, convenient operation and favorable price.

Lockable Gas Spring: most widely used in medical devices. Through the release mechanism, it can stop at any position in the travel, and produce a larger locking force (up to 10000N or more) .

Friction Gas Spring : mainly used in kitchen furniture and medical equipment and other fields. The utility model is characterized in that it lies between the free type and the self-locking type, and can be stopped at any position without external structure, but without additional locking force.

Gas Traction Springs: a special type of Gas spring that is in the shortest position when free and runs from the shortest to the longest when subjected to Traction. The resistance of the gas spring varies with the speed of movement. It is often used as a damper in washing machines, refrigerators and other equipment.

Gas Pressure Lever: used primarily in swivel chairs to adjust position.

Damper  : mainly used in automobiles and medical equipment, through the change of resistance with operating speed, to buffer the speed of the connected mechanism.

Advantages of gas spring lift

The air spring lifting device has many remarkable advantages:

Balance and stability of the force: in control of the movement of objects to provide balance and stability of the force, to ensure the safety and stability of the operation.

Adjusting performance: preloading and fixing force can be adjusted to meet the needs of different application scenarios.

Long Life and corrosion resistance: with good corrosion resistance and protective performance, applicable to a variety of working environments, extend service life.

Simple structure, light weight: simple structure, light weight, easy to install and maintain.

Applications

Gas Spring lift devices are widely used in many fields:

Mechanical equipment: such as machine tools, lathes and lifting platforms, to provide support and buffer, to ensure the stability and safety of equipment.

Automotive Sector: for the trunk, Hood and tailgate, to help open and close automotive parts, providing sufficient support to ensure smooth and safe operation.

Furniture: such as cabinet doors and drawers, achieve soft closure, to avoid noise and damage to furniture.

Medical Field: provides support and adjustment functions, such as moving arm of surgical lamp and lifting of bedside table.
