Charting Your Course to Success: Exploring Diverse OUAC Programs

Renowned for its multicultural society and world-class education system, Canada is a prime destination for students who want to study abroad. According to the CIC News, around 900,000 international students were enrolled in Canadian institutions in 2023.

A crucial step on this journey is understanding and selecting from the diverse programs available through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC). These OUAC Canada programs serve as gateways to obtaining the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)—an essential credential for university admissions in Canada.

Before you start your application journey on the OUAC website, it's essential to determine your eligibility. There are two distinct criteria to meet, which depend on your current status.

OUAC 101 application

OUAC 101 is a specific application designed mainly for young learners currently pursuing their education in an Ontario-based high school. This application is a perfect fit if you are under 21 years of age and have been continuously part of your high school journey without a break exceeding seven months.

OUAC 105 application

OUAC 105 is a distinct application tailored for Canadian and non-residents who are not engaged in an Ontario-based high school education. This application caters to you if you're living in Canada or elsewhere and you're not enrolled in a high school in Ontario. OUAC 105 is the right choice if your educational journey diverges from the conventional high school path, providing you with a chance to move forward with your academic aspirations.

What to do next

Start by exploring the diverse universities and programs available in Ontario. Remember: There's no limit on the number of universities you can apply to, but each institution allows a maximum of three programs.

Next, you'll need to create an account on the OUAC website and keep those login details safe. Navigate to the application page, diligently complete each section, and then review your inputs. Once you're sure of all the information, agree to the terms by clicking “I Verify and Agree” to finalize your application. Don't forget to note down your OUAC reference number.

Finally, be sure to routinely check your email for updates regarding admission offers or refusals from your chosen universities.
