As the name implies, the lockable gas strut is indeed a new product, which combines a gas spring with a locking device. Its basic structure usually includes components combining the cylindrical cylinder, piston and precision seal system. A cylinder block filled with nitrogen gas or high-pressure inert gas. When compressed by external forces, such gases in the cylinder store energy, and, once the external force is released, these gases return the piston to its original position, resulting in a stable supporting effect.

Locking Mechanism is the key to distinguish it from the common gas spring and the lockable gas struts. This mechanism generally utilizes a series of fine-tuning valves and piston assemblies to regulate the gas flow in the cylinder block, and to prevent further movement of the piston by locking it in place. The locking feature of this mechanism needs to rely on complex mechanical design such as Ratchet, spring lock or solenoid valve and so on, they can also achieve lock function as customers in the flow path process positioning at any position to select different application requirements.

Lockable gas struts types and features

Based on the locking mechanism, the locking gas support rodcould be divided into the rigid locking and the elastic locking. The rigid locking gas support rod has high stiffness and stability in the locked state, which is applicable to the scenarios that need to carry large external forces and maintain a fixed position. More flexible design with elastic locking gas support rod. This function can be very skillfully applied to frequent adjustment of the application scene, the user can adjust the length and can adjust the angle of the support rod as needed, and achieve a locking of position at any position.
