What is a hair transplant?

You'll be more at ease with the thought of a hair transplant if you understand how they work. The truth is, they do exactly what they claim on the tin. Hair transplantation is a cosmetic surgery that involves extracting “donor” hair from areas of your head where it is still growing and transplanting it to areas of your scalp where hair is unable to grow. The transplanted hair will behave similarly to the hair removed from the donor site. And if you combine your hair transplant with supplemental medicine – more on that later – you'll be giving yourself the best chance for long-term hair health.

Who is eligible to participate?

The severity of your balding determines your eligibility for a hair transplant in Delhi. In most circumstances, if you've lost some hair but still have some hair on your head, you'll be allowed to have the surgery done. However, if there isn't enough "donor hair" available in some situations, the transplant may not be possible.

The Norwood scale — a system for measuring the stages of male pattern baldness – is commonly used to determine if you have enough hair for surgery. A hair transplant may not be possible if hair loss has proceeded to the most severe, seventh stage of baldness.

What are the various hair transplant procedures?

FUE, FUT, and DHI are the three forms of hair transplants you're likely to hear about. The majority of the variances are due to how the hair is removed and transplanted. During hair transplant clinic consultation, you can select which transplant is best for you.

FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant): FUT is a well-known hair transplant technique in which a long, thin strip of scalp is cut from the bottom back of the head. After that, the hair follicles are removed off the strip, separated into single units, and transplanted into the appropriate location. The scalp is then stitched back together in the place where the strip was removed. Because all of the needed follicles are harvested at the same time, a FUT process is usually faster.

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction): Another well-known hair transplant technique is FUE. Rather than removing all of the follicles at once, as with FUT, small, circular cuts are done all over the donor area of the scalp to remove individual follicles or groups of follicles. This process is done until the surgeon has enough follicles to cover the area where the hair is thinning.

DHI (Direct Hair Implant): The DHI process is comparable to FUE, but on a smaller, more accurate scale. Follicles are extracted one by one from the donor area and implanted separately into the hair loss-affected area using a specialized implanter tool. This is a new breakthrough in the field of hair loss, but it is quickly gaining popularity.
