Animal rights have been an important issue for many animal activists. Animal fighting and using animals in sports has been a part of many cultures. Many believe that there is no place of using animals in sporting events as it is a showcase of unnecessary cruelty. I believe that animals should not be used in sports because like humans they are living beings who feel pain when they are subjected to mistreatment, which often results in their deaths.

Those who argue in favour of allowing the use of animals in sports believe that the animals are well-cared for. In fact, many animal owners have a deep connection and love for their animals. An example of this can be found in the horse racing industry where horses are treated extremely well. In fact, it is seen that racehorses live longer than wild horses because they are well-sheltered and also get proper medical care. Similarly, in greyhound dog racing, dogs are generally well treated by their owners and trainers, who provide them with the best food and some dogs even get massage treatments. As the animal is well cared for, animals can successfully be involved in competitive sports. Visit us :- Best GP Tuition Singapore

However, this is a myopic view of this serious issue. Most involvements of animals in sports lead to some form of cruelty or danger to the animal. Even though the animals are well-cared for, it is only until their athletic careers. When animals are removed from their natural habitats they are bound to face problems. For example, the horses used in horse racing are bred in a specific manner, which hinders their natural development, the diet which the horses are given, lead to ulcers. Even in the case of greyhound racing, the dogs are treated miserably. The conditions are worse because the industry is self-regulated. The conditions for these animals may be good for a while but once they stop winning races these animals are subjected to torture, neglect, and slaughter. Therefore, it is best if animals are not involved in sports. Visit us :- GP Tuition in Singapore

Those in support of animal sports, also claim that animals are used for generations for sports and are fulfilling their natural purpose. To further their argument they believe that if animal sports is wrong then even eating meat or consuming milk should be considered wrong.

Forexample, hunting and fishing are activities which have been practised since time immemorial. Sports like fox hunting and fishing are undertaken for rational reasons like extermination or for food. For sports that involve shooting birds like pheasants, grouse or ducks, the activity is more justified as it has been our natural instinct to hunt and eat. Arguers believe that activists are just hypocritical to expect not using animals for sports but are completely fine when it comes to animal consumption. Therefore, if animals can be consumed they can also be used for sports. In my opinion, though, all sorts of hunting, shooting, and fishing activities are forms of slaughter. If, since ancient times fox are considered as pests, and need to be exterminated then the act should be carried out humanely. Hunting is barbaric and unnecessary as it scares the poor animals to an extreme point of terror. All animal rights activists plead for the rights of animals to be treated as humanely as possible. Also, most of the people hunting are not doing it

for subsistence but for mindless recreation. For example, sports like trophy-hunting involves stalking and killing of animals for their parts. This multi-dollar industry is absolutely unjustifiable from an animal welfare perspective. Therefore, it can be seen that animals are subjected tounnecessary cruelty and should not be a part of sports. Supporters state that throughout history animals have been bred and used in sports, from Roman chariot racing to present-day bullfights. It is extremely wrong to separate sports that are at the heart of any culture. For example, the bullfighting sport in Spain is a major part of the Spanish culture.

The traditional practice of bullfighting is legendary in itself and it should not beremoved from the culture. In fact, some animal sports are vital to the survival of some of the animals involved. For example, in India, the sport of Jallikattu is integral to the preservation of Karnataka's Kangayam species of bull. The point is that animals used in sports are important to certain cultures and hence, the practise shouldn't be stopped. Visit us :- Best General Paper Tuition

In contrast, it is important to change traditional practices that are cruel. It is important that certain archaic traditions should be given up. Practices or beliefs that are harmful or dangerous require reform. For example, gladiator fights or sati were also traditional practices but if people don't follow it today because of cruelty then how can we torture animals in the name of sports?

People using animals for sports in the name of tradition is an abuse of human power. Animal rights activists and organisations, including PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), have opined that sport involving animals is cruel as animals are being raced, whipped, and pitted against each other often to fight until the finish. The question arises that are these kinds of sports really required in this technological-driven and civilised society?

Therefore, it is important that we reject unethical "cultural" practices of animals being used for sports. In conclusion, it is clear that animals should not be used in sports as it causes them distress. In modern society, it is important that we are sensitive towards the animals and avoid unnecessary cruelty towards them. Thus, it is only sane to terminate such inhuman sports that put animals at risk. Visit us for more information :- General Paper Tutor
