The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an autonomous body established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. Its primary responsibility is to regulate and oversee the food safety and hygiene standards in India.
If you are looking to obtain FSSAI registration for your food-related business, here are the general steps involved:
Determine the category of your food business: FSSAI Registration requirements vary based on the nature and scale of the food business. There are three categories: Basic Registration, State License, and Central License. You need to determine which category applies to your business.
Basic Registration: Basic Registration is applicable to small-scale food businesses. The criteria for Basic Registration include an annual turnover of up to Rs. 12 lakh (for most states) and a production capacity not exceeding specified quantities. You can apply for Basic Registration through the FSSAI online portal or by submitting the application to the Regional Authority.
