Dr. Devi Charan Shetty, Principal, I.T.S Dental College, Murad Nagar, Ghaziabad was ordained as the organizing secretary in the 28th ISDR (Indian Society for Dental Research) conference held at I.T.S Dental College, Ghaziabad from 20th to 22nd Novemeber, 2015. Indian Society for Dental Research, which is the Indian division of the International Association of Dental Research, is a well recognised association which recognises work by dental professionals in the field of research. Dr. Devi Charan Shetty was part of organizing team that comprised of eminent professionals such as Dr. Hari Parkash(Director General), Dr. Vinod Sachdev(Director), Dr. Anil Kohli and Dr. Mahesh Verma.  The conference was enriched by the presence of esteemed dignitaries such as Mr. Varun Gandhi (Member of Parliament, Lok  Sabha), Dr. Marc W. Heft (President, International Association for Dental Research) and Dr. Christopher H. Fox (IADR Executive Director), to name a few. Dr. Shetty extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries during the inaugural function of the conference. The conference had a galaxy of international and national speakers from over 15 countries around the world. More than 1000 delegates attended the conference from India and abroad. The conference had a wide arena on which talks were delivered to dental professionals from all over India.  It also had 2 days of pre-conference workshops and courses organised under the leadership of Dr. DC Shetty. The courses were conducted within the campus where clinical techniques were demonstrated and participants could perform practical themselves. Dr. Devi Charan Shetty and Dr. Anshi Jain presented a paper in the conference on the topic ‘Histopathology, prognostication and molecular analysis of salivary gland carcinoma: An Update’ which highlighted the correlation of histopathology and molecular methodologies in the diagnosis and predicting prognosis of the salivary gland tumours. The paper presented by Dr. Shetty emphasised the role of incorporating molecular techniques in salivary gland diagnostic pathology. All post graduate students and the faculty from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Microbiology, which is headed by Dr. Devi Charan Shetty, presented a total of 20 Original Research Papers and 2 Review Papers in the conference. One of Dr. DC Shetty’s post graduate student Dr. Preety Sehrawat won the Best Abstract Award for her paper and was honoured with a cash reward for the same. Another of Dr. Shetty’s students, Dr. Nikita Gulati, a final year post graduate student under Dr. Shetty’s able guidance, won the T.R Sarawathi medal for achieving the overall best paper presentation award. Dr. Akanksha Banga and Dr. Maumita Bhattacharya also won the best paper presentation award. Faculty from Dr. Shetty’s department also won awards for best scientific presentation in the conference. The conference received an overwhelming response from the dental fraternity from all over the country and abroad and Dr. Devi Charan Shetty expressed his regards to all the members, keynote speakers, academicians, delegates and guests for making the mega event a grand success. The event received great media attention and Dr. Shetty’s significant role in conference’s success was acknowledged in the regional and national newspapers. The conference was an apt showcase of his organizational skills and wonderful foresightedness in organizing conference of such huge magnitude.
