Why America Needs Health Club Consulting Services

Every business major would tell you that figures count more than words. Data does not lie. Here are certain data points that clearly paint a nicely-colored picture of why gym consulting services should gain the front line of every discussion in America.

To be considered healthy in the United States, an adult is expected to get a minimum of 2.5 hours a week of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise, or 75 minutes of rigorous-intensity each week, or a mix of both. That should include activities that would strengthen muscles, such as weight lifting or doing push-ups no less than two times a week.

The United States has an estimated population of 318 million. Of those, it is estimated that around 50 million use “some kind of” health and fitness facility. But the Center for Disease Control (CDC) reported in a 2013 report that some 80 percent of Americas do not get the exercise needed to be considered healthy.

Another fact: CDC reports for 2011-2012 also showed that 35.1 percent of Americans over the age of 20 are obese and that 69 percent are considered overweight.

These alarming figures point to a national need for getting Americans to exercise more. That provides unprecedented business opportunities in the country for those interested.

But health and fitness might not be the right business for just anyone. So the first question to ask is, is it right for me to open my own gym? To open a gym business, one would have to consider certain factors.

For example, if you want to know how to start a fitness studio, you also would need to look at what type of equipment you would need and in what quantity. There is no point renting a large hall and filling it with fancy equipment, multiple top-of-the-line treadmills, and hard-cardio machines, if your potential clientele is only interested in yoga classes.

And even if you do need multiple machines and several of each type, would you buy them from a sports shop in the neighborhood or would you go to a wholesale gym equipment provider that can lease them to you on a month to month basis? The more customers you get, the more equipment you can lease.

There is no debate that the health and fitness business is the right business in America today and will remain so for at least the next decade. America needs that to remain a viable country.
